Guide to baby-proofing your home.

It’s intriguing to welcome another addition to the family. We have a responsibility as parents to secure the home to avoid accidents and keep our little angels from harm’s way.

In this post, we are going to discuss a few baby-proofing tips and techniques to have a secure and friendly space for our little angels.

Nursery Safety:

The little one’s room should be cozy and comfortable. Secure the crib, and also make sure the blanket and other bedding are not hanging around so that the baby will not grab them to cover the face. The screw and locks of the crib should be firmly in place.

Kitchen Safety:

Make the kitchen as safe as possible. Put dangerous and harmful things such as sharp objects, chemicals, and medications out of reach. Cover stove knobs, and secure cabinet doors with childproof locks.

Living Room and Play Area

Anchor all types of furniture and neatly pack electronic gadgets and cables in a box. If possible gate the play area.

Bathroom Safety:

I don’t know what the attraction to the toilet is, I guess is the water or maybe the paper tissue. Keep everything in the toilet out of reach, you can secure toilet lids with hooks. Installing a non-slip mat in the bathtub will also help.

Electrical Safety:

Fix outlet covers and cord concealers, it’s important to secure loose cords to prevent tugging.

Staircase Safety:

Don’t be taken by surprise, babies move a lot when they start crawling and walking. Install safety gates at the top and bottom of staircases. You may choose the side open made from wood or metal or the concertina stair gates which are made from mesh or soft material which extends from side to side.

Fire Safety:

Install smoke detectors, create an escape plan, and keep fire extinguishers within easy reach for adults.

Outdoor Safety:

Extend the baby-proofing measures to the outdoor areas of the home. Secure gates and remove potential hazards like poisonous plants or sharp objects.
